Job Title: District Manager
Department: Operations
Reports to: Regional Manager
Position Summary: The District Manager controls, directs, and participates in the Operational activities of the assigned stores in the district. The primary responsibility of the District Manager is to provide leadership, focus, direction and coaching to store personnel to achieve District’s performance plan targets. Target areas include sales, store contribution, inventory, shrink, merchandise presentation, associate productivity and satisfaction, manager performance and development, turnover, customer service and satisfaction, mark-down compliance, and loss prevention audit scores,. Other targets may be added as needed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Sales Goals
• Achievement of sales goals through store performance, merchandising, customer service
• Develop sales-building tactics
Store Operations Standards
• Use the Store Visit checklist to insure operational effectiveness and performance against standards
• Prepare detailed notes of areas for improvement and review w/ management
• Follow up on notes from last visit
• Recognize extra effort and good performance
• All stores in district executing receiving procedures to standards—minimal force matching
Customer Service
• Insure that employees wear name tags and adhere to dress code
• Insure that employees are knowledgeable about products
• All employees give customers 100% of their attention
• Follow up on any customer service problems by reviewing calls with store personnel
• Personally respond to serious customer service breakdowns
Compliance
• Insure that stores comply with all laws, all company policies, and all current communications
• Stores maintain safe working environments
• Check stores to insure mark-down compliance
Inventory
• Stores are prepared effectively for inventories
• Inventories are completely timely and accurately
Shrink
• Review LP procedures with store personnel to insure that shrink numbers are below system average
• Instruct all store personnel in effective shrink management practices
• Follow up on any negative items from LP audit
• Record and destroy damages per company policy
Communication
• Ensure all communication to the stores is effective, positive, and supportive.
• Respond to email and voice mail within one work days (24 hours).
• Insure that stores are executing the communications received from the office
Employee Development and Planning
• Know the names of all employees in all stores
• Coach and direct managers to improve performance in areas of deficiency
• Train managers in areas needing improvement
• Work w/ HR on employee complaints, investigations, and terminations
• Responsible for staffing
• Monitor Managers in Training for sufficient progress
Store Maintenance and Repair
• Facilitate the immediate repair on any items creating hazardous conditions
• Communicate with Facilities to get needed work completed
• Insure that store is maintained by employees: carpets and floors cleaned, stock areas kept neat and organized
