Job Title: Store Manager

Department: Store Operations

Reports to: District Manager

Manages store operations and customer support for quality service, customer satisfaction and
profitability. Supervise, lead and direct the activities of store personnel. Responsible for
ensuring company guidelines and policies are understood and followed. Responsible for
improving store volume, profits, meeting and exceeding budgets established and maintaining
gross margins.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.

  • Recruit, interview and hire sales clerks and third key personnel.
  •  Coach, train and develop employees. Provide training, set performance goals and
provide feedback to all direct reports. Set goals for sales, service environment,
merchandise moves, shrinkage figures and expense controls. Executes merchandise
floor moves to drive sales according to ad schedule bi-monthly.
  • Responsible for payroll budget and weekly processing for all employee time sheets and
bank deposits.
  • Supervises as well as participates in the unloading of trucks, sorting of merchandise,

stocking shelves, ticketing merchandise, re-merchandising and the reconciliation of all
cash and inventory transactions.

  • Takes proactive role in establishing and carrying out shrinkage control disciplines andprograms and accepts high level of responsibility for store’s shrinkage performance.

This includes inventory and LP Audits

  •  Ensures all paperwork is processed within a timely manner according to company
guidelines. Follows up on receiving discrepancies, damaged goods and damage claims.
  • Maintains monthly operating reports that include statistics on store performance.
  • Maintain a high level of customer service by

1. Creating a shopping environment which welcomes the customer,

2. Merchandising/recovery is ongoing and completed,

3. and the cash wrap area processes customers in a timely manner.

  •  Determine and distribute work assignments to employees. Ensures maintenance, cleaning and store appearance is up to company standards.
  •  Prepare and conduct performance appraisals for associates. Take appropriate

disciplinary action on employees, including making recommendations for termination, in

accordance with company guidelines.

  •  Ensures store-level compliance with company standards of safety, security, facility

maintenance, postings/notifications and other administrative duties.

  •  Performs other store duties as needed to ensure smooth operations and to meet

customer needs.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Directly supervises approximately five or more store personnel who handle day-to-day
operations in handling customer needs, selling merchandise, stocking shelves, operating a cash
register, and provide safety training in accordance with Loss Prevention policies and
procedures. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's
policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training
employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and
disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

EQUIPMENT USED
Cash Register, Calculator, Computer, Scanner.
QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each
essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the
knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Position may require on-call availability 24 hours a day,
seven days a week. Ability to store hours and work evenings and/or weekends as needed. Work
schedule varies each week and includes working nights and weekends. Self-motivator with
strong communication, organizational and leadership skills required.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Minimum of 3-5 years retail experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education
and experience. Demonstrated managerial skills required.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common retail information, policies/procedures, financial
reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from
customers, management, or members of the business community. Ability to effectively present
information to top management.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Basic Math ability is required. I.e. add, subtract, multiple, divide. Calculate figures and amounts
such as discounts and percentages.

REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations
where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in
written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts,
and draw valid conclusions.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an
employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.
Mobility to move freely throughout store on a continual basis throughout the workday. The
employee frequently is required to stand and walk, sit and talk. The employee is required to use
hands to finger, handle, staple, or feel; reach with hands and arms; lift overhead, push, climb or
balance on a ladder; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must be able to lift
and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision,
and color vision.
